Please make sure, no matter what distance you are shooting at, your target is between the two orange SAFE markers (located on each side of the 300 yard line). This means that no matter what position you are sitting at, what yardage you are shooting at or what target you are shooting at, your muzzle should ALWAYS be between the two orange SAFE markers. No targets shall be set atop any berm. NO steel targets on the rifle range. Violations will result in the loss of your RO badge. If you don't understand how to use the Orange SAFE markers, please ask the caretaker, rifle range chair or any officer/board member.




Today, June 10th, 2020, Governor Hogan relaxed the Stay at Home order affecting some operations at TCSC. TCSC shall be open on a limited basis with the following caveats;


Members only with a maximum of three guests, including non-shooters*
Masks, Hand Sanitizer (provided) and Social Distancing is Recommended.
The clubhouse shall remain closed at all times.**

*People within six (6) feet of each other should wear a mask in accordane of CDC recommendations. Please remember that all persons, including guests must sign in and out and all appropriate fees must be deposited in the range deposit boxes.
**The clubhouse shall remain closed for kitchen operations. Training courses will be conducted at reduced capacity and will be restricted to students and instructors.

The Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club is a private, members-only facility located in the picturesque Catoctin Mountains at the confluence of the Monocacy River and Hunting Creek. We are a short twenty minute drive north of Frederick, MD. 

The Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club facilities include a modern RV campground with electric and water hookups lying along Hunting Creek creating a peaceful getaway spot for members and their guests.

Additional facilities available to members include;

  • eight trap fields
  • nine 10-meter pistol bays (each bay is capable of multiple shooters)
  • a sixteen position 50'/100'200'/300' rifle range with firing points under cover
  • a four position archery range (fourty yards)
  • a full size pool (open May - September) and bath house
  • a picnic pavilion
  • two-story club house with commercial kitchen
  • over 50 RV camping stations with electric and water hook-ups (dump station on the premises)
  • boat ramp to Hunting Creek and Monocacy river where you can catch trout, small mouth bass, catfish, carp and other warm water species
  • and we're adding more each year!

Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club provides a variety of activities and we hold scheduled matches in many disciplines. We are affiliated with organizations including NRA, CMP, ATA, IBS, IDPA, SASS (Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club is home of the "Thurmont Rangers"), and USPSA.
