General Info

The 2012 Mason Dixon Stampede, is the official SASS N. E. Regional Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting.

The match will be held at the Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club (TCSC) in Thurmont, Maryland from October 4 through October 7, 2012. Directions to TCSC.

Please come and renew old friendships, visit some of our country's civil war history and have fun shooting our fantasy game!

There will be side matches, a 3 Stage blast, Wild Bunch Mini Match, RO Classes, a Territorial Governors Meeting, camping, Friday Night Feast, and a Saturday Banquet, Top Gun/Sweet 16 Shoot-off. Tons of fun. Cowboy Action Shooting! YeeHaw!!

Our targets are big and close and stages will be designed to be easily understood. There is no need to make your shooting fantasy a memory contest.

If you cannot participate in the main match, we have a conventioneer entry that allows you to participate in all of the events except the main match. All conventioneers and main match shooters must be SASS members, in good standing, in order to participate.

SASS rules will apply and all SASS categories will be recognized.

Scoring will be the "Rank Point" type.

The public is invited to attend free of charge but, we do ask that you bring ear and eye protection.

• Registration: Applications for shooters, vendors and sponsors are available through the links on this page. All shooters must be pre-registered to participate in the Main Match. Registration is limited to the first 400 paid shooters. Camping, Banquet, RO Courses, Three-Stage Blast, and Wild Bunch Mini-Match participation also requires preregistration. Should you have any questions, that are not answered by the web site, use the contacts listed on the various forms.
  
  
• Three Stage Blast is a 'warm up' event held on Thursday. It consists of three stages where the senarios are very similar to some actual main event stages. You must be preregistered for the Three Stage Blast to participate


• The Wild Bunch Mini Match consists of three stages that will bear no resemblance to the actual main match stages and will be held on side match day. You must be pre-registered for the Wild Bunch Mini-Match to participate.


• Side Matches – Side matches will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Available side match categories include: speed pistol, speed rifle, speed shotgun, Derringer and Pocket Pistol. On the rifle range we’ll have Long Range Lever Action (pistol caliber) Rifle, Lever Action (Rifle caliber) Rifle, and Single Shot Rifle. $10.00 will get you an all day pass for all side matches – except the 3-Stage Blast and the Wild Bunch Mini-Match – or you can shoot any one side match for $1.00. Want to wait and see??? Side-match passes can still be purchased at the match on (Side Match Day) Thursday.
  
  
• Brass Pickup: This match is a 'lost brass match'. There is no brass pickup in this match
  
  
• Camping: Camping is available on the TCSC grounds. All sites with hook-ups include water, electric and use of bath house facilities. There are no sewage hookups however there is a dumping station at the club. There are approximately 50 campsites, total. Preregistration for camping is required. The price for campsite with hook ups (water and electric) is $15 per night. We also have some primitive camp sites which have no water or electric hook ups. The price for primitive camp sites is $5 per night.


• Breakfast and lunch will be available in the TCSC Clubhouse. The kitchen will be open form 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.


• Friday Night Feast One free ticket for the Friday Night Feast is provided for each paid participant. Additional tickets are available for $10.00 each. To help us make sure we have enough food for everyone, please indicate on your registration form if you plan to attend – or not – even if you’re getting’ a free ticket!
  
  
• Saturday Night Banquet - You must be preregistered for the banquet to participate. Banquet will be held at the Thurmont American Legion Hall. Food will be catered by the Cozy Inn Restaraunt in Thurmont, MD. Want to share some good food and good company? Dress up or not. Tickets can be purchased for $30.00 each. Cash bar.

Good grub: appetizers, steamship round of beef, fried chicken, salad, buttered corn, red potatoes, rolls, iced tea, coffee, desserts.



• Bunkhouses: There are several available hotels/motels near TCSC. Don't delay making your reservations. Contact the establishments for rates. A list of hotels/motels is below.


• Golf Carts or ATV's Use of golf carts and ATV's is limited to Handicapped Shooters & Officials Only.

RO Classes

This year Wednesday October 3, we’ll have SASS RO I, SASS RO II and Wild Bunch RO classes!

Please go to http://www.sassnet.com/Shooters-Handbook-001A.php, to download RO class material, print and read materials for the classes you wish to take and bring material to class with you.

SASS RO Classes – If you would like to take the RO I and/or RO II course at the MDS, please register with Jingles Jerr. The cost of the classes are: RO I $10.00, RO II $25.00 both classes $35.00.
