The Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club is a private, members-only facility located in the picturesque Catoctin Mountains at the confluence of the Monocacy River and Hunting Creek. We are a short twenty-minute drive north of Frederick, MD. 

The Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club facilities include a modern RV campground with electric and water hookups lying along Hunting Creek, creating a peaceful getaway spot for members and their guests.

Additional facilities available to members include;

  • ten trap fields, two are practice trap, one is a wobble trap
  • eleven 10-meter+ pistol bays (each bay is capable of multiple [8+] shooters)
  • sixteen position 50'/100'/200'/300' rifle range with firing points undercover
  • a four position, fifty yard archery range
  • a full size 30x60 pool (open May-September) and bath house
  • a picnic pavilion next to the pool*
  • two-story clubhouse with commercial kitchen*
  • over 50 RV camping stations with electric and water hook-ups (dump station on the premises)
  • a shallow launch boat ramp to Hunting Creek and Monocacy river where you can catch trout, small mouth bass, catfish, carp and other warm water species
  • and we're adding more each year!

* Available for members to rent.

Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club provides a variety of activities, and we hold scheduled matches in many disciplines. We are affiliated with organizations including NRA, 2 Gun, 3 Gun, CMP, ATA, IDPA, SASS (Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club is home of the "Thurmont Rangers"), and USPSA. We also charter Venturing Crew 270, a group for young men and women ages 13 (and graduated the 8th grade) or 14 through 20. This group is a general interest club run by the youth, and they do everything from camping to shooting and much more. Also, the TCSC charters the "Top Shots" which is a shooting only youth program which participates in youth rifle, shotgun and pistol disciplines.

Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club is open 7 days a week for members and is open to the public during specific shoots and on Tuesday and Friday evening from 6PM until 10PM for trap shooting.  See our Shoot Program for all competition dates and times.

Practice Times

The Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club is open to the public for Trap practice on Tuesdays and Fridays, 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM. For ATA Trap competitions and for other disciplines, please see our Shoot Program or their specific page for specific times and competition details.
